Razer has officially moved to **Synapse 4**. It is no longer in beta, and it is a mandatory upgrade for newer devices like the Viper V3 Pro.
It is legitimately faster. Razer rebuilt the architecture to be multi-threaded, claiming a 30% speed boost. In testing, it opens faster and crashes less than Synapse 3.
You *can* use it without an account, but Razer makes it hard.
Deep dives into Synapse logs (specifically gms-proxy.log) have shown it tracks focused windows and application usage timestamped by the second. If you value privacy, block this executable in your firewall.
If you are buying an older used Razer mouse (like a DeathAdder Elite) that relies on **Synapse 2**, be warned: Cloud support for Synapse 2 ends **October 28, 2025**. After that, it is offline-only, and you can't sync profiles between PCs.
