Drag clicking is a specialized technique that lets you achieve extremely high CPS by literally dragging your finger across the mouse button. Not every mouse can handle this – you need one with the right surface texture and internal settings. Ideally, a drag-clicking mouse has a matte, slightly textured surface to provide enough friction for the finger to stutter and generate rapid clicks. Low or adjustable debounce time is also crucial, since high debounce will filter out the tiny clicks. If you want to see how your mouse fares, try our CPS Test to measure those rapid inputs.
The Roccat Kone series is legendary for drag clicking. The Kone XP’s perfectly sculpted shape and textured buttons make it excel at this technique. It uses robust optical switches but still manages to allow the vibrations needed for high CPS. This mouse provides consistent drags out-of-the-box and is a great all-around gaming mouse (high DPI sensor, many buttons) on top of its drag-click prowess.
For pure CPS dominance, the Bloody A70 (and its sibling A60) is the legendary CPS king. It’s been the go-to choice for world-record drag clicking attempts. The Bloody’s custom optical switches and software are designed to easily register double- and drag-clicks, and its gritty matte button finish generates tons of friction. In the right hands, this mouse can hit 60–100+ CPS during a drag click. The trade-off is a relatively basic sensor and middling build quality – it’s built to click fast above all else. (Also note: some games/servers may flag extremely high CPS as automated, so use with caution!)
These ultralight mice are favorites in the drag clicking community. The key is their combination of a quality matte surface (avoid the glossy versions) and the ability to set debounce time to 0ms in Glorious Core software. This gives drag clickers full control to register every tiny click. Weighing around 67–68g, the Model O (ambidextrous) and Model D (ergonomic) are very easy to flick around. They’re great not just for drag clicking but also general gaming, though their honeycomb shell design is really aimed at maximizing performance.
