Enable or Disable Pointer Acceleration
Pointer acceleration changes how far the pointer travels based on how quickly you move the mouse. Gamers often disable it for 1:1 control.
What you're changing: When acceleration is off, the pointer moves the same distance regardless of speed. On, faster motions send the pointer farther.
Windows & macOS
Windows
- Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Mouse and select Additional mouse settings.
- In the Pointer Options tab, toggle Enhance pointer precision.
- Click Apply then OK.
macOS
- On macOS Sonoma or later, open System Settings → Mouse → Advanced (if present) and disable Pointer acceleration.

- Log out and back in; delete the key or set a positive value to restore.
Tips & Troubleshooting
- After disabling acceleration, adjust overall pointer speed so the cursor still feels responsive.
- Many games have their own sensitivity controls—tune them separately.
- Be careful when running Terminal commands.
