Windows Key Not Working: Disable Win Lock or Game Mode

Fix a Windows key that works electrically but is blocked by a gaming keyboard’s Win Lock or Game Mode.

Quick diagnosis

If every key except Windows works and the keyboard has a lock or gaming indicator, check Win Lock before reinstalling drivers.

Pressing Windows does nothing.
The key appears normal physically.
The behavior follows the keyboard to another PC or changes with a lock indicator.

Test both Windows keys
Use the keyboard tester to check whether either key sends an event.

Exit gaming mode
Use the dedicated Game Mode/Win Lock control or the exact documented Fn shortcut.

Switch onboard profiles
Try the default hardware profile without loading an app-specific profile.

Check Windows policy only afterward
If a second keyboard also loses the Windows key, close remappers and inspect Windows policy/software.

Toggle the keyboard’s documented lock control until the Windows key event returns.

Remove a GUI-key remap in the official configuration tool or reset only after saving profiles.

• Re-enable Win Lock before games if preventing accidental Start-menu activation is desired.

• If the key emits no event in any profile or PC, test the switch and use warranty service.
