What Is CPS and Why Does It Matter?
CPS stands for Clicks Per Second. It is a metric used to measure how fast you can click a mouse button in a single second. While it might seem like a simple stat, it plays a crucial role in certain competitive gaming genres.
Why CPS Matters in Gaming
- Minecraft PvP: High CPS is critical in Minecraft Player vs Player combat. It helps you take less knockback and deal more damage per second. Techniques like jitter clicking and butterfly clicking are often used to achieve high scores.
- FPS Games: In First-Person Shooters, a higher click speed can be beneficial for semi-automatic weapons, allowing you to fire as fast as the game allows.
- RTS & MOBA: In Real-Time Strategy and MOBA games, high APM (Actions Per Minute) often correlates with high click speeds, allowing for faster unit management.
Common Clicking Techniques
- Normal Clicking: The standard way of clicking. Usually yields 6-9 CPS.
- Jitter Clicking: Vibrating your hand muscles to click faster. Can reach 10-14 CPS but can be tiring.
- Butterfly Clicking: Using two fingers on one button. Can reach 15-25 CPS.
- Drag Clicking: Dragging your finger across the mouse button to create friction-based clicks. Can reach extremely high CPS but is situational.
