Swap Primary and Secondary Mouse Buttons
Left-handed users or those with different preferences can swap the primary click button. Many mice also have extra buttons that require vendor utilities to customize.
What you're changing: Which button performs the primary click and how additional buttons behave.
Windows & macOS
Windows
- Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Mouse.
- Choose Left or Right from Select your primary button.
- Use manufacturer software (Logitech Options, Razer Synapse, etc.) to remap extra side buttons.
macOS
- Open System Settings → Mouse.
- Enable Secondary click and choose whether the left or right side triggers it.
- macOS lacks native options for extra buttons; use the vendor tool or utilities like BetterTouchTool.
Tips & Troubleshooting
- Dragging uses the primary button—remember after swapping.
- Some applications detect raw button input and may ignore system settings.
- Check for firmware updates if buttons misbehave.
