Reverse Scroll Direction (Natural vs Traditional)
Choose whether moving the wheel or your finger downward scrolls the page down (traditional) or up (natural). Adjusting this setting affects only your account.
What you're changing: The mapping between your scroll motion and the direction content moves.
Windows & macOS
Windows
- Open Settings → Bluetooth & devices → Mouse.
- Under Scrolling, choose Down motion scrolls down or Down motion scrolls up from Scrolling direction.
macOS
- Open System Settings → Mouse or Trackpad.
- Toggle Natural scrolling.
- Older versions: run
defaults write -g com.apple.swipescrolldirection -bool NO
to disable natural scrolling (use YES to re‑enable).
Tips & Troubleshooting
- macOS applies the same direction to mice and trackpads; utilities like Scroll Reverser let you split them.
- Reversing the setting also flips horizontal scroll wheels.
